JURA LIMESTONE
ORIGINS & QUARRIES
About 160 million years ago, our MAXBERG Jura Limestone was formed in the Franconian Alb region. Each of these rocks holds a fascinating geological history and offers us a glimpse into the ancient world of plants and animals. There is nothing artificial or any other type of natural stone that can match the unique quality of this remarkable rock. Our quarries, with layers several yards thick, reveal a stunning array of colors in this finely-grained limestone, often referred to as Jura marble.
What sets us apart is that all our quarries, where we source MAXBERG Jura Limestone, are set up for direct processing. This not only ensures top-notch quality but also helps us minimize the need for long transportation routes.
EXTRACTION & PROCESSING
We quarry Jura Limestone using heavy machinery to dig through layers of rock that are a yard thick. After extracting these massive natural stone blocks, we transport them to our processing plant. There, we utilize cutting-edge equipment to saw and shape them into a wide range of sizes. Thanks to modern machinery, we can create precision-cut natural stone tiles, no matter how small. This enables us to craft an array of products, including facade stones, floor tiles, substantial architectural elements, and stunning garden walls. The exceptional variety of these natural stone slabs is what sets them apart, making each piece truly distinctive and unique.
SUSTAINABILITY & ECOLOGY
Our MAXBERG Jura Limestone is renowned worldwide as an environmentally friendly building material. It is completely natural, free from any chemicals – a quality highly valued by builders committed to sustainability. In addition to its architectural advantages, it delivers ecological and economic benefits that make it stand out as a top-tier natural stone. Moreover, we make sure to rehabilitate our quarries to their original state, creating authentic sanctuaries for local wildlife.
